EMPLOYEES

If you are denied unemployment compensation benefits, you have the right to appeal and have a hearing before a Referee. Be sure to request your hearing before the deadline for doing so expires.

There are many reasons why claims for unemployment compensation are denied. Being denied benefits by the local office does not necessarily mean you won't win at a hearing. Common issues in unemployment compensation litigation are whether an employee has been discharged for wilful misconduct or discharged for other reasons (such as economic reasons) and whether an employee voluntarily quit, or quit for good cause. There are many other issues which could apply to your case.
