CHILD SUPPORT

Child Support

Whether you are seeking child support or are being asked to pay child support, you need to know your rights. Pennsylvania law is constantly changing in this area. For an up-to-date calculation based on the Pennsylvania child support guidelines, and an analysis of whether your case warrants a deviation from the guidelines (an outcome which could be higher or lower than the guideline amount), there is no substitute for meeting with an attorney.

The attorneys will go over the particular circumstances of your case, advise you of your rights and obligations, and assist you in deciding upon a course of action. This may involve negotiation, filing an action for child support or for modification of child support, representation at a Domestic Relations conference (in appropriate cases), or attendance at a court hearing.

Eligibility for support and modification support is not retroactive (before a petition is filed), so act quickly to schedule an appointment and learn your rights.

It would be helpful if you could bring recent earnings information about both spouses (such as year-to-date paystubs and the most recent tax returns) to your appointment. If you don't have them, then bring as much information as you have, and don't let this stop you from coming in for an appointment.
